Weekly Newsletter 8th March 2024

Highlights from this week at Liberton Primary

  • On Tuesday we had another great Libby Leaders session including planning our Eco-Friendly Lunch campaign, our Walk and Wheel event and even making instruction videos on knot-tying techniques from our Outdoor Learning group.
  • Also on Tuesday, our artist in residence had her first full session working with Primary 6A looking at architecture, modelling and sculpture.
  • All the children looked very smart for their class photos on Wednesday.
  • On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day.  The children loved guessing the books and characters from the various clues that were brought into school.  They also loved the book-based scavenger hunt in the playground create by our Libby Leaders Reading Group and Mrs Cook.
  • Our assembly on Thursday focussed on role models, International Women’s Day and World Book Day.
  • On Friday the school was filled with the noise of Samba drumming as Commotion Women’s Drumming very kindly came to share their skills.
  • We look forward to welcoming everyone this evening for the LPSA Movie Night in the gym hall.  Thank you to all the parents who have worked so hard to provide this opportunity for our children.

Liberton Lightning – Match Report

P6/7 team won again, beating Taobh na Pàirce 1-0. In very muddy conditions, and against a team considerably taller than us, we battled hard and played good football at times. Special mentions to Amelia for her first half saves and Amy for trying to pass the ball around in midfield. Goal was from Amy. Player of the match was Isla, for some outstandingly brave saves in the second half. That’s us unbeaten since September.

Dancing Success

Well done to Cara from P7 who was in the USA last week to take part in the Phoenix Open Highland Dance Championship.  She did brilliantly and was 3rd overall in the 11 years Phoenix Open Championship and was the overall 11 years Phoenix Scottish National Dance Premiership Champion!
