Weekly Newsletter 28th March 2024

Have a great holiday and best wishes for those celebrating Easter or Eid al-Fitr.

Highlights from this week at Liberton Primary

  • Well done to our running squad who took part in the Citywide Cross Country meet on Monday.  They competed very well in extremely tough conditions.
  • On Tuesday our artist in residence was back in school to work with Primary 6B on their Dream Park models and looking at the work of artist Martin Boyce.
  • On Wednesday our Diving Team represented the school at the Edinburgh swimming and diving gala at the Royal Commonwealth Pool.  They did extremely well, even though both Luka and Mila were the youngest competitors in their class they showed great confidence amongst older children. Well done also to Filip in P7 who came 4th in his class.
  • On Wednesday P3B had their final Forest Schools adventure of the term.
  • On Thursday we finished the term with our Libby’s Got Talent showcase.  We had over 70 children take part, displaying a wide variety of talents.  Everyone was impressed with their commitment, confidence and enthusiasm.  Well done to them all.
  • Today we break for our Easter holidays.  School will resume on Tuesday 16th April.

Annual Survey of Parent Views

We would love to hear the views of our parents and carers about what is going well at Liberton Primary and what we could do to make our school even better.  Please complete this brief Form to give feedback on our school. (It should take about 5 minutes). https://forms.office.com/e/GPiptWE2vB

Football Success – Liberton Lightning Match Report

Liberton Lightning P6/7 team won against one of Edinburgh’s strongest teams: South Morningside. Our first goal was a contender of goal of the season: a great passing movement around the whole pitch – Amelie, to Mya, to Amy, to Isla, to Larissa who scored with a powerful shot. South Morningside equalized, then Amy scored a great goal with a cool finish with the outside of her foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. Renee scored our third goal after a trademark powerful run and finish, to give us a cushion. Special mention to Hajar for stepping up to play in this tough match. Player of the match, due to excellent dribbling, work rate, and a great goal was Larissa.

Easter Activities for Families

Please find attached the Spring What’s On for Families in South East Edinburgh. This lists information on free or low-cost activities and support available during the holidays.

ND Well Opportunities from Barnardo’s

See attachment for information on NDWell Drop-ins. These sessions are for parents/carers who have a child or young person who is neurodivergent. It’s a chance to come along and get advice and support. They also run a sibling’s group for 7–12-year-olds who have a brother or sister who is neurodivergent.

School Uniform Recycling

Thank you to everyone who has contributed items to the LPSA uniform recycling stall.  We now need to top-up our stock, particularly for sizes 7-8, 9-10 as well as black P7 jumpers/sweaters.  If you have any of these items that your child has now grown out of, please hand them into the school office.

International Cookbook

The LPSA have decided to make a fundraising cookbook, to celebrate how international our school is. If you have a favourite recipe, please fill out the form attached and send it to lpsa.communications@gmail.com
Please submit Scottish/British recipes too – we would love to celebrate everyone’s favourite foods.
Although we ask that recipes are not taken directly from another cookbook / website for copyright reasons, as soon as you make some little tweak, that is OK e.g. maybe you like your pancakes pink!
