Highlights from this week at Liberton Primary

  • It was lovely to welcome all the children back following the Easter holiday.
  • On Wednesday our P4s went on their springtime seasonal walk. They had a lovely time seeing the cherry blossom, almond blossom, wild garlic and deer.
  • On Thursday our Assembly for P4-7 introduced the next unit of our Building Resilience programme, Look on the Bright Side. We discussed the importance of gratitude and staff and children shared things that they were grateful for.

Coming up

  • On Monday the Book Bus will visit for our Primary 1 to 3 children.
  • Also on Tuesday Primary 6A will visit the Fruitmarket Gallery to work with our artist in residence.
  • Good luck to our Primary 7 football team who will be taking part in the first round of the Inspectors Cup on Wednesday.
  • Also on Wednesday, the Evening News will be in school to photograph our Primary 7 pupils.
  • On Thursday our assembly will be for Nursery to P3 and will introduce our Building Resilience Look on the Brightside unit.
  • Also on Thursday we will welcome visitors from the City of Edinburgh Quality Improvement Team and local headteachers to share our practice in writing.

Annual Survey of Parent Views – FINAL CHANCE

Mrs Saunders

Many congratulations to Mrs Jamieson, who celebrated her wedding over the Easter Holidays.  She will now be known as Mrs Saunders.

LPSA Cookbook and Cover competition

Forms for recipe ideas and a chance to design the cover for our cookbook were sent home today.  Please return any forms to the school by 25th April.

P7 Evening News Photograph

Primary 7 pupils will have their photo taken in school, for the Evening News P7 Special Edition, on Wednesday 24th April. Information on when the paper will be issued has been sent home with pupils. If you do not want your child to be included in the photo, please email the school office to advise.

Uniform Ordering

Please see attached flyer regarding ordering of school uniform. The reduced price ordering window opens on Monday 22nd April.

Free School Meals

If you are eligible, please remember to apply for Free School meals and uniform provision.  This is particularly important for children in P6 and P7, but for ALL years claiming this benefit can enable you to get additional support for school activities and can also increase funding available to the school to support with our children. 

Recent changes:

From 1 April, children and young people will be eligible to receive free school meals through targeted provision if their parents or carers are in receipt of any of the following:

  • Income support;
  • Income-based Job Seeker’s Allowance;
  • Income-based Employment and Support Allowance;
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999;
  • Universal Credit (where their monthly earned income is not more than £796);
  • Child Tax Credit, but not Working Tax Credit, where their income is less than £19,995
  • Both Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit where their income is not more than £9,552.

LPSA Uniform Recycling Scheme – Uniform Request Form

Our aim is to promote the recycling of uniform and make school life as sustainable as possible and so all uniform donated to the LPSA is available free of charge for anyone who could make use of it.

On submitting a form, the LPSA will check our donations and get in touch with you directly to let you know what we have. It couldn’t be simpler!
